if a home is sold in a short sale and the new landlord chooses to evict the tenants who have been there for four years how long do they have to move

The fact of a new landlord doesn't have any effect. Tenants with leases continue under their leases, and long-term month-to-month tenants should be given 60 days' notice in writing.
