Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

We have a second home that we had not been to in 2 weeks and now they say they can stay until we give them a 30 day notice to vacate. They called the Sheriff on us and said we would have to vacate the premises until they leave. How can this be?

You need to be clearer about the "they" who claim a right to a 30-day notice. Tenants often have rights like this; guests don't.
