Homeowner backs out of signed lease

I signed a lease to rent a home for eight months with three other people. The home owner, after already signing the lease and cashing our deposit checks, is now trying to back out because they do not want to rent to four single people. They say that they want to rent to a family intead. I want to know what my legal rights are regarding this matter.

They cannot back out of a signed lease. If they really want to back out, ask them how much money they will pay you to let them.
