Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

My homeowners association in Newport Beach, California just adopted a rule that prohibits rentals for a time period of less than one year. I want to continue renting my residence out weekly or monthly because I generate substantial rent in the summer months. Is the rule legal? Thank you, Michelle

HOAs have a broad range if discretion and the rule appear to be legally valid.
