Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Homeowners' (third party) Right to Copy of Renovation Contract

Our Condos are being renovated and we are being told we have no right to a copy of the contract between the HOA and the Contractor because we are the third party. Is this correct? There is many problems arising i.e., all damage done inside our homes (the work is being done on the outside) the contractor is not responsible for. We as the homeowner are responsible for repair and expense of all inside damages. Does the HOA have the right to sign for us a contract such as this, saying we will stand all expenses?

No. This is not correct. You are a member of your association and a third party beneficiary of the contract. I am assuming you are not alone in your complaints. You may want to band together with other similarly situated neighbors to get some legal help and to defray the cost. In any event, let me know if you would like our assistance.
