Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
my house flooded over the weekend due to a pinhole in a pipe inside of the wall. I cant keep my kids living in the house while all the repairs are being done. Is the land lord responsible for putting my kids and I into a motel room?

No, but the landlord cannot charge you rent for the period the property is uninhabitable. Uninhabitable, however, is an objective standard and must be truly unsafe or illegal to occupy. You just being uncomfortable or unhappy with the condition is not the same as uninhabitable for legal purposes.
