House Lien

We are Calif joint owners on the house deed. If my mother in law does not pay off her cc debt and a written loan agreement to hter brother are we liable? Can they put a lien on the house? Our home is paid off.

No, you are not liable. Yes, if a lawsuit agaisnt your motherinlaw results in a judgment, the judgment becomes a lien on all property interests owned by her. The judgment will need to be recorded to perfect the security interest.
