Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

I went to jail for 6 months and had my car parked outside of my parents house the police put a ticket on the car and then had it towed I get out of jail and the towing company has me at the collection services for owning them 1400 dollars do I have to pay them if they own the car

You do not say what the car was worth, whether the towing co. sold it or kept it, or whether the $1400 is over and above the price they may have sold the car for. If your total towing bill was worth $1400 and they collected more than $1400 for selling the car plus towing and storage expenses, they could potentially owe you money.
