Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Kitten removed from my property

Cleaning lady found a newborn kitten outside my door,didn't call me, just took it to the pound where it was killed... My cat came home w/2 kittens, i didn't know about the 3rd until a month later (found out today). I am incensed that an animal was removed from my property without notice and destroyed. I have found what i think are precedents, what is my best course of action?
