Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Landlord is Control Freak & Vicious

Moved into inhabitable unit. Landlord hid things so we didn't notice until we had lived here for 2 days. Landlord & her flunkie entered property while we were away without our approval 5 times within 1st week. We changed lock to protect our privacy & quiet enjoyment. Landlord attempted to enter (while we were away even though she knows our schedules) & found the lock was changed. Called us pleading for a key. Sent a letter stating she MUST have key. Landlord came over at 9pm banging on door, ringing bell like escaped lunatic. She called my job & threatened to change locks while we were at work & force us to "chase her down" for key. Even though she promised to make needed repairs, she swore she would not do them without a key. Despite the fact we told she can enter when necessary as long as we are home. We told her to promise to refrain from entering. She couldn't make this promise. She filed a 3-day notice & then an Unlawful Detainer. We are suffering with an uninhabitible dwelling & want to move ASAP. No repairs have been made, so we havent paid rent. She is threatening to file another UD for nonpayment. Previous tenant dropped in confirmed shes a lunatic who entered at will & didn't make needed repairs promptly. HELP!

Re: Landlord is Control Freak & Vicious

You answered your own question, you need to move. You might also take her to small claims court for trespassing and invasion of privacy.
