Landlord want free service

my wife and I started a Salon, we are first time business owner--name removed--we spent over 40K fixing up a dilapidated space so we can open our shop--name removed--now the building owner patron our business but refuse to pay, we have a five year lease--name removed--We don't wan't to loose the huge investment we put into the place and his action is intimidating us, is there anything we can do to keep him from taking advantage of us. We are afraid if we tell him to paid, he will start raising the rent--name removed--if we don't, he's escalating the situation, now his wife is also coming and doesn't want to pay us--name removed--please--name removed--

Tell him that you have a general policy not to give free haircuts to anyone but family members since you have a business to run, as does he as well.

Also, when you sign a business lease, it might be advisable to have the lease contain an option for renewal for a similar period. That way you can lock in the location for a longer period, if you wish.

Try saying "Sorry, we do not give free services". Seriously, if you are too intimidated to demand that patrons of your business pay you for your services, you should not be in business.
