Does a landlord have a right to take posession of my belongings?

At the beginning of sep I gave my landlord a 30 day notice that i was moving out end of sep. I started moving out mid of sep. on Tues 9/19 the landlord called me to take her a money order to replace the check I had given her claiming it might not have funds and she wont find out until I fully move out. She also told me someone wanted to move into the apt so I had to be out by Friday 9/22. I told her I would take her the money order but wasnt sure if i could be out by that day. On Sat night I went to my apt to get my purse which had my checkbood.liscence,check card, etc. I find out I cant get in. I went to the landlord and she tells me the new tenant needed to move in so she went in and took allmy things out because she needed to fix the apt for the new tenant. I asked her to return atleast my purse she said to come back the next day. Ive been trying to contact her ever since that day and havent been able to. I even had to police go with me to get my things but she never answerd the door. Today is 9/25 and havent been able to get in contact with her. Ever since day one she refused to give me the owners name so I have no other info on who to contact. What can I do?

Your landlord could not legally lock you out of your appartment. She is also liable for the loss of use of your property and any property which is damaged or lsoott.

You should contact an attorney and discuss the options available to you. This could include penalties for locking you out of your apartment.
