What are the CA requirements for insurance coverage of rental properties, if any?

Insurance Requirements for CA Rental Properties.

Unless there is something in the lease, there are none.

The landlord should make sure there is insurance,both for the property and liability insurance.

In commercial leases, the tenant is usuallyrequired to buy, or at least pay for the insurance.

CA Rental Property Insurance

I agree with Mr. Brittain's reply. However, you should be aware that tenants can purchase insurance for their personal property through an agent. This is called "Renter's insurance". It covers all the contents in the residential unit that belong to the tenant.
