Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Landlord/tenant
As a tenant, are you protected by a ca lease contract if the landlord sells the home at some point during the lease term? Will the lease remain in full force and effect upon the transfer of property?

Re: Landlord/tenant
It depends on the language of the lease. Do you have a written lease? What does it say? Assuming your written lease is silent, and assuming you have a lease term of some length, if the home is sold during that term, the new owner will have to recognize you as a tenant under the terms of your lease. The new owner will just stand in the shoes of the old owner. In other words, you get to stay on the same terms and in accordance with your current lease.
