Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

lease agreements

if you have signed a lease that is about to end do you have to give a 30 day notice even if the lease is over. my landlord told me i had to give a notice and i asked for an extension of 15 days but 3 days later took it back. he says i am still obligated till the 15 days are up, but my lease ends at the end of the month. the 15 days extends past that.
