How long does a landlord have to refund deposit at the end of a lease

I think this board is littered with the same questions and answers about the same topics over and over again. There is a very easy way to find out most of your rights and responsibilities as a tenant and those of the landlord - look to the California Department of Consumer Affairs book online at:

http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/landlordbook/index.shtml

This is an excellent free online resource for most landlord tenant matters. ALSO - you can search the knowledge database here on this site. Most answers can be found. If you have an unusual situation or discover that you do need the assistance of an attorney as there has been a violation of law or you need clarification of terminology or procedure etc... then I would definately post an inquiry back to this board. We can help.
