Liability tree damage
Our tenant had a friend over to his rental last night.
A storm caused a tree to snap and damage his car. Our tenant wants us to pay for the damage to his friend's car.
Do we have this responsibility?

Your insurance should cover this. If you don't have insurance, get it to cover future losses.

I agree about the insurance. Your first reaction whenever something of this nature happens should be to inform your insurance agent and let the insurer deal with liability questions.
If you don't have insurance, the issue would probably become one of whether you were negligent in maintaining the tree, or whether the incident were just an unfortunate accident.
Even a lawyer knowing all the facts would have a hard time predicting the outcome, so I won't be able to venture a guess whether you would win or lose in court on this one.
