Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
I live in an apartment in california. My husband and i are the only tenants on ground level. my landlord wants to put a table and chairs, for all tenants, less than a foot away from our bathroom window. Is that legal? i feel that its an invasion of our privacy. is there a certain amount feet she needs to respect?

This is a difficult-to-impossible question to answer without looking at the site. The landlady would take the position that your rental is the four walls and everything inside. Your position would be that your rental agreement carries with it an expectation of privacy. How would a judge or jury decide? Probably, but not certainly, in your favor. Issues would be (among others) how big is the window, how high above the floor or ground is it, plain or frosted glass, do you have curtains, what were you told about other tenants' use of the outside areas when you moved in, and on and on.
