Hi I live in Sonoma County, CA and wondering how long I have to sue my old landlord for return of deposit? Thanks

Four years on a written lease, two years if it was verbal.

Also, if there has been a change of ownership since you moved out, there is a case holding that the four-year period re-starts at the time of ownership change because, in effect, there is a new contract with the new owner. Odd, but true. See Trypucko v. Clark (1983) 142 Cal.App.3d Supp. 1.
