Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

What should I do with my ln-law who is living in our house?

My husband lived with his mom for the last 5-6 years. After we got married and bought a new house, she moved in with us. But we had a terrible relationship, and I wanted her to move out of the house. She is not paying any rent and any utility expense. What can I do to make her move out, becasue she didn't want to loose this free deal.

Thanks!

The owners of the house have the right to do a 30 day eviction notice. Problem is that if your husband owns the property as seperate property or if you both own as community property, you would both have to evict the mother. If your husband does not agree than this could be a tricky situation. I recommend talking to an attorney about this matter because there could be a way to sue on behalf of the community estate, or your half of the community estate for back rent, etc.
