loan modifcation

i'm currently doing a loan modification on my home and i was told from a company, that if i use a lawyer to modify my loan terms i can get better results. Is this true? they said that they can do it better bcecause their going to do a forensic loan audit to find any federal violation to be use as leverage against the lender. is this true?
