Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

locked out of rental by former boyfriend

my boyfriend and current business partner changed the locks on our house rental, the lease of which, is in both of our names; he has refused to allow me entry for two months, would not give me any of my personal or business belongings and as a result I have incurred monetary and mental duress. What legal course of action can i take?

Sincerely,

One approach would be to sue him for the value of the property he is refusing to return to you, along with the additional amounts you have had to pay for replacement housing and other items of property.
