Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Hi, we lost our housea few years ago, I think it was Oct. 2008, it was a forclosure, the house was is a area that had home owners assc. dues, 350.00 per month, once we stopped paying on the house, we stopped the H.O.A. dues also, today, we were served papers to show up in small claims court because the H.O.A. is suing us...after losing everything, this is almost to much to handle, is there anything we can do???
