Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

loud neighbors

About 7 months ago, my neighbors bought a new entertainment center for their television. The bass is incredibly loud. I literally vibrates my bed when I try to sleep. It is on all day and all night. I have written the neighbors three notes asking them very nicely to turn it down after 10:00pm. I have also complained to my landlord 6 times via the telephone. Out of the 6 times, my landlord said she has written them up twice. What options do I have now to try and remedy this problem? It is apparent my landlord isn't going to do anything about it.

Re: loud neighbors

You have the right to give your notice and move. You have the right to encourage the landlord to give the offending tenants a 3 day notice to comply with any terms of the lease they are violating, and/or give them a 30 day notice to quit the unit (move). You have the right to bring an action in the Superior Court for harassment. There are X the box judicial council forms for these petitions. They are available from the court and/or off the internet at the court's web cite.

Re: loud neighbors

You can either move or you can obtain a restraining order for them not to play the entertainment center above a certain level after 10 PM.

You might also check local ordinances for "Quiet Hours" that may have been passed by the city you are in. If they exist, then file a complaint with the police.
