Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Misrepresenting School District
Bought house ML listed and represented by both seller/buyer real estate agents as in specific school district. At registration, was told not in school district. Have written docs expressly representing; would not look at any homes outside district; family paid more and now devastated. What is my legal recourse?

You may have a claim against the real estate company and seller. Everything really depends on the written contract and disclosures. If you fax me the documentation to 714 363 0229, I will provide you with free consultation. Also, how much more do you have to pay a year for the out the area school?

You have the option of returning the house to the seller (recission) and getting you money back including the cost of your next move.
Re: Misrepresenting School District
Another possibility that you can consider, if you otherwise like the house and got a good deal, is an out-of-district transfer. In other words, some school districts will accept pupils from other districts upon application and perhaps payment of some tuition supplement. For obvious reasons some very popular districts won't or can't participate, but it may be worth inquiring.
