Does mixed use (live /work loft) affect common landlord responsibilities on a residential lease?

Most likely no. The stricter requirements for a residential unit probably apply, unless there is a clear separation between the residential portions and the commercial portions.

Your lease may provide some information to help define the duties.

You might be subject to rent control so you can also contact the rent control board for more info.
