If you are referring to a summons in an unlawful detainer, then the answer is you should have already moved out. That's because you were served with notice to either pay or quit, or quit (usually a three day notice). Once an actual complaint is filed and a summons is issued, the landlord is alleging that you are now unlawfully holding over by continuing to reside in the property. The unlawful detainer action is brought to get a writ of possession that the sheriff will serve, ordering you off the property.
