California's Civil Code section 2945 and the immediately following sections are a set of laws intended to regulate so-called "foreclosure consultants" and to protect homeowners facing foreclosure from unfair, sharp or downright fraudulent practices by unqualified or crooked persons claiming to be able to stop a foreclosure or get the homeowner a new or better deal.
