Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

first month free not honored

i answered an ad for 1st month free rent on a 2 bedroom apartment. when i went to sign the lease, i was informed that it did not apply to my model of apartment. although there was a photo of a different apartment on the page, it never said it only applied to that model. i rented it anyway. is a person allowed to later come back for false advertising/bait and switch type remedies?
