Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
I got a motorcycle for a friend under my name. He was making the payments, until there was an accident and the motorcycle got totally damaged. He gave the bike to a friend of his who crashed the bike and died on the street. My friend only had liability, so the Gap insurance won't cover the cost. He refuses to keep making the payments - the balance left is about $ 18000. Can I take him to court?

I assume this is an amendment to the question of about two days ago. Which ever company was holding the note on the motorcycle should have had insurance coverage on the value of the bike and they or the insurance company would then be coming after you for reimbursement [did part of the monthly payment go directly for the insurance coverage so that you were a named co-insured and thus not liable perhaps for the property damage to the bike?]. why id your friend refusing to pay the monthly payments? Does he realize that he is still liable even lf the bike no longer exists? Was someone else at fault for either of the two accidents to the bike? is there a potential claim against a public entity for either accident [must file a claim within 180 days of incident].
There are many questions that need to be answered and much more information you need to obtain. You seem reluctant to provide all the needed information, so you need to contact some attorneys, find out what information and documents they want, and meet with them to find out what legal remedies if any you have.
