Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Neighbors are making false accusations and complaints
I moved into my apartment 11 months ago, with my name being the only one on the lease. The manager at the time knew my wife was living with me and there was no problem. The problems started within the last couple months, my neighbor blamed us for leaving stuff out(ie phonebooks that were dropped off by the phone company) I'm currently at sea and can't talk face to face with anyone, but my neighbor took a phonebook and threw it at my apartment hitting my front door, where my wife and 2 month old daughter are staying, my wife went and filed a written complaint with the manager, to have the manager only come the next day and say that our neighbor denied it, and filed a complaint on us, also going to the general manager and filing a complaint there. My wife was told by our manager that she isn't allowed to file complaints because she isn't on the lease, and that she isn't supposed to be living there, also called our house and told my wife that if she received another complaint then we would be given a three day notice to preform, my wife asked for the general managers name and info so she could call, and she was told by management that she couldn't have that information. What should I do?

If you are in the U.S. Navy, you have substantial legal protections under the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act. Ask to speak to a JAG officer about this.
Information about the ownership of the property is available from the County Assessor's office. Often a telephone call to the Assessor is all that is needed to obtain the owner's name and address.
The landlord is entitled to require that your wife's name be added to the lease. If the manager tries to evict her rather than add her name on the lease, see a lawyer.
