Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

My neighbor's moving company hit my tree while they were making a u-turn.

The tree has a dent mark and have been up rooted from the ground. We filed a incident report with our community's security personal , they have told us that only

one moving company was let-in through the gates that day, there are CC&R's on when large moving are not allowed in (i.e. during weekends, after 4pm).

My son witnessed the whole incident through our front door, described what had happened to our neighbors, and told them of the damage on the tree. The Neighbors had told us it wasn't their fault, call the moving company. We called the moving company and they have also said that they are not claiming liability.

Should I just take them to small claims court to retrieve damages done on my personal property.
