Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

neighbors trees blocking long-time view

I live on a hill. The house was built in 1956. My neighbor to the West is below me. Their house was built in the late 1970's. The trees planted in their back yard are now impeding my view to the West. Do I have any legal recourse to make them trim their trees so my view can be reestablished?

Thank you,

Sandra

Re: neighbors trees blocking long-time view

California law normally does not guarantee view easements. If your neighborhood has CC&Rs, there may be a restriction that might protect your views. You might also call the local zoning office to see if there are any local ordinances that might protect your view.
