Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Looking for a northern CA based attorney or retired judge who would sponsor me for a Law Office Study Program. I would like to take the Bar in CA but not attend law school per se. I hold undergrad and graduate degrees in engineering, have studied business subjects such as accounting, marketing, and economics. I have defended myself successfully in an IRS audit against business. I do my own taxes, including schedule E and C. I am a seasoned real estate investor, have studied landlord tenant law, and rent control in San Francisco extensively. In my spare time I go to court and attend trials on Real Estate litigation matters. I have submitted cases in court a few times. All in all I'm confident I would add value and make a great addition to a firm or private attorney wishing to have an apprentice. I do my own taxes and legal work. The Law Office Study program would commit 18 hours of my time free to you each week for 3 years as I prepare to take the bar. My desired area of practice is Real Estate Transaction Law, Litigation. I run my own business (Real Estate Rentals) and work currently (Engineer). I have nearly 20 years of work experience.

How interesting! I started my legal education with LaSalle Extension University in 1960, and took the California "baby bar" in 1963 (flunked) and 1964 (passed). Then, my "real life" career took over (B.S.E. and M.B.A. from The University of Michigan) and I forgot about law until 1996 when, at the age of 56, I enrolled in night law school. I graduated in 1999 and passed the real California bar exam that fall. I am always ready and willing to discuss alternative pathways to admission to the bar. I would, however, point out that the statistics show that it's an uphill path. Maybe going to night school might work better. I got a GREAT education at Empire College School of Law in Santa Rosa. Please feel free to contact me to compare notes.
