Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

who owns my house?

i am the title owner of my house. the deed is in my name and my husband's name. we bought the home with the help of a relative on the agreement that he would live with us and split the costs of living. we have had nothing but trouble trying to get along. we havent been able to reconcile any differences despite many attempts and it's time to quit. he says we cannot evict him because he is part owner of the house. he says he'll testify in court that we agreed he would own half the property. his name appears nowhere on any documents related to this home with the exception of a signed gift letter for $2500.00

Re: who owns my house?

If the house is not in his name you can go ahead and evict him. He might have some sort of legal claim like breach of contract he could file as a seperate lawsuit which he may or may not win but you can evict him.
