Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

i have not paid my rent in a few months, my lease was up yesterday my landlord broke into my house today through the window while i was asleep i confront him and told him he was wrong in breaking in, he then told me this was his property because my lease was due yesterday and that i need to move out immidiately.. i called the police and made a report about the incident the officer was no help becasue she said it was a civil matter and she does not handle civil matters. what can i do? how much time do i have to move out? can he force me out since my lease it up? i never reacieved any eviction notices from the lanlord.

Your landlord certainly knows nothing about the law of landlord and tenant. You, too, have not handled things well by failing to pay rent for "a few months." I suggest you invest in one of those paperback self-help law books covering tenants' rights, read the sections about notice, entry by the landlord, and eviction processes. Unless you do something, he'll turn off the power and change the locks. Then figure out how you're gonna keep a roof over your head. That will involve paying rent to somebody, but probably not where you are now.
