Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

For the past 15 years I have been renting my backyard for storage of junk cars to the same person but for the last 8 years I have no received payment for it. After years of several attempts to contact him in person and by phone he refuses to contact me . Do I have any right those cars in my property?

We need some additional information. Over the last several years has there been any chnage in the vehicles left there? If the same vehicles have sat there for several months, you can treat it as abandoned property but need to get the forms from the DMV--basically you notify the owner, set a date for an auction of the vehicles, buy them at the auction, haul them away, and then sue iln Small Claims Court for your costs [which you likely will not recover]. You should call the police department to see if they will tow the vehicles but they normally only do that if the cars are on a public street.

You might also want to look up and read Civil Code section 3068, and the Vehicle Code sections referenced within CC 3068. This section probably gives you a storage lien and guidelines for enforcing it.
