Pet Deposits

I have been living in my apart. for 3yrs. I have two cats, can my apart. charge me a pet deposit for them. They new I had them all along. Do cats have a right called roamig rights that allow no deposits?

The landlord can charge you any amount of deposit (pet or otherwise) up to twice the monthly rent, or three time the rent if the unit is furnished. He has to wait until the lease expires to change the deposit, or give a 30-day notice if you are month-to-month. There is no such thing as "roaming rights."
