Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

A pipe bursted under my kitchen sink and damaged some of my items. The entire apt flooded and instead of calling out servepro to extract the water, they waited 12 hours. Fortunately thye replaced the carpet as well. Are they responsible for my damaged items? I don't have renters insurance, but I do have homeowners insurance because I own a house in another state.

You should start by asking your homeowners' insurance agent about coverage. Based on the sketchy information provided, I cannot say whether the apartment management is liable, and if so, whether and where you should sue. In any event, you should check your insurance coverage, negotiate with the apartment management, and then and only then sue, probably in small claims court.
