pothole on freeway damages car

hit a pothole on fwy have replaced two tires and rims two aligments and still have damage taking car to dealer to see if my frame is bent, is new car with only9k miles on it can i get caltrans to pay for damages and if frame is bent can i get them to pay to replace my car? if i do a claim with my insurance they will raise my rates

In my personal opinion, making a successful claim against CalTrans is not practical and probably not possible. If you are paying for insurance that covers this sort of thing, you should make a claim. Otherwise, why pay for it? If they raise your rates excessively, cancel it and get other insurance. What's the point in paying for insurance if you aren't ever going to use it?
