Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Proper Service of 30-Day Notice to Vacate
What is the proper method of serving (to a tenant) a 30-day notice to vacate property (landlord is selling the property). Our landlord taped a copy (not the "original") of a 30-day notice to vacate on our front door. We were home at the time (middle of the afternoon). The landlord made no attempt to personally serve us, as she didn't knock or ring the bell, etc. Two days later, the original notice arrived in the regular mail. It was not sent certified, registered, Fed Ex, etc. Just regular ol' mail. What if the wind had blown the notice off our front door, or what if some prankster snatched it off our door. There is nothing to prove we received this notice. What if the envelope with the original was delivered at someone else's home or lost in the mail... Anyway, what is the law re: proper service? Thank you in advance! (Time is of the essence, we only have 24 days left here!)

Re: Proper Service of 30-Day Notice to Vacate
The fact is none of those ifs did happen and you did get the notice. if you are asking advice on how to lie or perjure you self youve come to the wrong place. Service of the 30 day notice was good. you better use the 24 days you have to find a place to live.
