I am a canadian citezin working in california under the nafta agreement, can I own a house in the US.

Or there are special provisions to do that

Yes, you can own property. The issue will become the financing. Lenders will require certain types of visas in order to take out a loan.

There is no longer any requirement that one must be a citizen in order to own property here. If it is income property (i.e., you rent it out), there will be some Internal Revenue Service rules to comply with, and they differ depending upon whether you are a resident or non-resident alien.
