Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
My property was sold at a foreclosure auction & the new owner gave us time to move our things after we were evicted by the sheriff. He said to just let him know when we were finished. Its been about 2 wks & we went back to finish but the house was locked up & he wouldnt answer or return any of my phone calls. I found out that he already took all of our belongings out & he just listed the house for sale & he is even advertising our fridge as being included with the house. We have about $10,000 if not more worth of stuff we hadnt finished moving. If he is going to auction our stuff off how do I find out where & if he already has? The receptionists answering my calls are taking down my info everytime I call but he has not called me back at all, the receptionists wont give me any info & their excuse is that he is not in the office everytime I call. What can I do? Please help. All my kids furniture, toys, pictures, personal papers & so many things were still in the house.

I'd recommend that you keep trying. The stuff still belongs to you. The new owner probably knows this. I'd be surprised, somewhat at least, if he auctioned or dumped your property. Maybe it has been removed and stored, maybe it's still there. Keep trying, and ask the receptionist what's a good time to try again.
