Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Property Transfer

I wanted to transfer my brother's apartment to my name, which I had purchased, many years ago in the U.K.

He signed the land registry form sent from U.K, but since he is a resident of California, the attorney in C.A refuses to notorize the form. Instead the attorney will notorize another form ''California all-purpose certificate of acknowledgment'' form, which the Land Registry people in the U.K will not accept. How can I get around this problem?

Re: Property Transfer

Go to the British embassy and ask for the document to be notarized.

Re: Property Transfer

The embassy would be in Washington, D.C. Based on your Zip code, I suggest you contact the U.K. consulate in San Francisco, where there will 98% likely be a consular officer able to assist you.
