Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Public Golf course fence aligning private residence badly damaged

Our house aligns a public golf course and 5 sections of cyclone, barbed-wire fence, are sagging, loose, rusted over, broken, with barbed wire loose and dangling. We moved to our house a year ago and our neighbor told me a huge tree from the golf course fell on the fence, hitting some of (our) house during a storm with the previous owner. This is obvious as the huge tree is cut up and laying 20 feet away on the golf course. The neighbor told me the golf course is responsible for the fence. Right now the broken fence is as low as 2-feet off the ground. We notified the manager of the golf course today through his workers and the problem is so obvious that is needs to be fixed. However, just in case, what law or regulations will state the he is responsible in fixng the fence? Do I need to contact the city code enforcement and county building inspector and also put the golf course on notice. I have already gotten some cuts on my hand from working in the backyard on the barbed wire, and so have my children. Please advise me of my rights in this area. PS, a golf course small tree is also stuck in the fence right on the border but on their side.

Please help. Thanks.

Your best course is to contact the golf course by a strong letter which you carbon-copy to the dept. of building and safety. Call the course every day until you are able to speak with someone. Good luck.
