Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

I have just purchased a bank owned foreclosure home in my local area(which is not considered to be the safest). Though I already have enough vandalism before I bought this house, it seems like people have trespassed into the house and spread leaves on the floors(in every single room), broke one of the window, and added many hole to the wall. And today, again (after we changed the lock so they cannot get into the house), the vandals destroyed the fan and lights in the patio. I know the former house owner lives one just one block away, but I am not sure of anything. What should I do to prevent vandalism from happening again? And how am I supposed to improve the safety of my house? Should I file a crime report?

This is not a legal question. Unless you can identify the vandals, there is nothing a lawyer can do for you.

Have you considered getting a tenant? Locks may slow down vandals, but sue won't stop 'em. The best defense is to have the property occupied, and that has the added benefit of producing income while you figure out your long-term plans for the property.
