Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
I am purchasing my house from my former landlady. Recently I offered her a check that would satisfy
the asking price. She said she could'nt accecpt this offer. can she do this? i also would like to know if the rent payments should be applied to the purchase price?

Unless your rental agreement was expressly a rent-to-buy agreement with an agreed portion of the rent payments going toward the purchase, none of the rent is a credit to the purchase. Other than that, I agree with Mr. Shers. Without the details of your purchase agreement there is nothing we can tell you.
