Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Going Rate for On Site Managers

I have tried to get the "going rate" or the formula used to calculate the appropriate compensation for on-site property managers. Is it strictly monitary, or is it a combination of monetary and benefits? I have contacted real estate offices and property management companies, and no one can give me this information. Can you help?

Re: On Site Managers

You recently asked a question about compensation for on-site managers.

I presume you're talking about resident managers for an apartment complex. The compensation can be a combination of wages and benefits - most usually in the form of a rent reduction. This is a tricky area and you need to be careful to ensure that minimum wage requirements are met.

Your best bet is to contact the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, and ask them to send you a copy of the California Wage Order covering resident apartment managers. Also, Labor Code 1182.8 applies.
