Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

A Real Estate agent had his license revoked from 1995 to 2001 and the Real Estate Board shows it happened because of an H - 25986 LA. He told my sister he just let it expired because the real estate business was so bad at that time. I'm pretty sure that is not what this is.

Real estate agents are like attorneys - they have to lie a lot or else they won't be able to make very much money.

You can check the status of his license with the Department of Real Estate (DRE) at http://www2.dre.ca.gov/PublicASP/pplinfo.asp

There is a column that explains what the codes mean, and disciplinary status. If you have trouble checking, you can always call the DRE.

Is it possible the expression "H-25986 LA" is a case number, rather than a code for a particular broken rule? The LA part could identify the DRE's Los Angeles office.
