if I leave a brokerage, do they have the right to keep any listings and not pay me commission if they sell it?

If you are a salesperson, the listing is probably technically with the broker; not with you. Assuming you have no written contract, you may be entitled to a portion of a commission depending on how much you contributed to the ultimate sale.
